Not going to lie, this was a book that I easily binged and just didn’t want to put it down! It was so much fun to read, I loved the writing, and I really liked the slow build-up of angst happening! Okay, not that that little gush is done, on to the true thoughts!

It has been a moment when I’ve run across a story that I am fanning over, but here is one to read everyone! This book is a great slow burn that just makes your toes curl and possibly even a little giggle to slip out while you are reading. These two strangers we stumble across are to genuine individuals who, some how, find friendship over just the honesty life. And by simply having a wrong digit for a phone number nonetheless! It is very true that it is far easier to talk with a stranger about things that are grinding your ass than it is to talk with someone close to you. This is what makes this whole book so compelling. The need to have just someone to talk with and confide in is so wholesome. Just someone to check in and make sure that you are at least out of bed at the very minimum. It’s nice. It is easy to see how both Jolie and Carson stay hooked together over texts, thanks to simply wanting a friend in the world. *sigh* That is just human in the best of ways.

As for the romance, wows! who knew you could make a stethoscope so hot! I know that makes no sense, but when you read the book, you’ll get it. The romance in the story is brilliantly done. I didn’t feel like the sexual side of the story was dominating, nor was it overpowering the storyline. I know there are some romance novels that it is all smut with a little story tossed in the mix to keep it all interesting. It was so focused on the story, when some of those scenes happened it felt perfectly placed. Hell, the slow burn was so well played, I was feeling bad for the two at one point. But heads up, there is little to be hidden in the spicier scenes.

I also wanted to say, even though there is an age gap (Carson is in his early 40s and Jolie is 25 I think. Ages aren’t mentioned in the story, so this is some guess work and calculations on my half) between the two individuals, I loved how there was no degrading or overbearing rules in either direction of the relationship. These two individuals grew a tight friendship over their time talking about made it a point to be upfront with one another about everything. With Carson being much older than Jolie, he never treats her as a child, nor tries to assert that fatherly personality on to her. Which coming from a fatherly character could have easily been the case. He sees her as a woman and a dear friend – and then some ;). Then Jolie is never trying to use her younger age to win any favors from Carson. This is not a Sugar Daddy situation, trust me on that! She sees him as a true friend and although might poke at his ignorance to some nomenclature due to his age, sees beyond the age difference to the sweet and caring man he is inside. Jolie gives him just as much respect as he gives her.

This is a book I think any of my other romance fans out there will love to read! Getting ready for some heart hitting moments though. This story definitely shows the readers the realities of two different type failing marriages and the crap that life toss onto your shoulders. There are moments where you see Jolie struggle with being an alcoholic and her attempt to move past this addiction. Also, a little bit of survivors guilt – not spoiling, just warning – happening as well. Keep working thru these moments though! They show the growth that both Carson and Jolie are going through in their own situations and how they are overcoming the cards they are dealt. But truly, despite the low moments that everyone knows happens in life, this a such a fantastic book. It is real. It is heartfelt. It is a great story to read. Plus, it totally helps that the Doctor is super Super nice to look at!

Time to get lost in the next story!
