Happy January Book Crew!
I hope everyone’s New Year has started out well! I’ve started the year out with a flurry of reading thanks to the multiple days off in a row I had. If you are looking for a good, shorter series that is fantasy, romance, “he fell first” style read, Layla Harper’s Fae King’s Temptation was a good read. A human gets pulled into a realm of magic and Fae and the only way she is going to survive is with the help of a gruff orc king who only wants to protect his people. However, while they travel to the realm queen’s court, the possibility of the pull they feel might just be leading to a deeper connection than either are willing or wanting. Because Rogar’s world is a temporary place for Kyra, but will she survive it? And will Rogar be able to let her leave once they make it to the queen? I started and finished this 4 book series in a weekend! Fast paced and an enjoyable series!
Dipped my toes into the Dark, stalker romance recently. Picked up Lights Out by Navessa Allen. That was a crazy ride! Don’t have that type of a kink, but if you are on the edge of possibly having something like that – this is the one to read! It was a good one. I plan on putting up a more in depth review for it, so not going to much into the review aspect of it. Overall though, I’m glad I gave into the darker side of the reading realm. I can see more of these darker reads mixed into my future reads.
I’ve finished in the past month is Brimstone. Y’all. Firstly, I don’t have a clue why I didn’t read this as soon as it came out. Secondly, I have so many questions that I want answers too! This is one that I have finished about a day ago (as of this writing) and the whole book is just sitting with me. I have moments when I remember something from the story and then that cliffhanger hits me all over again. It is full of action, love, hard decisions, naughty scenes, absolute breakdowns, and what the hell moments. Loved it! Book 3 will be here this November, but my word! This next book will be one that I am taking the day off once it is release to read it.
I’m trying something out this year for my month read post instead of a the traditional “monthly reading list”. Starting with the title of this post for one and the books I decide to pick below. No reading themes per say. These are going to be stories that I have found that seems just fun. Mixing in some more of my indie authors that I do ARCs for and stories that have caught my eye while I was adding to my never ending TBR list. If I get to add these books to my shelves, why not share the chance with you all?!
I hope you guys also enjoy this change up for our monthly posts. I felt like the past years of the original pattern has been fun, but time to switch it up some!
If anyone wants, my Fable bookclub Pages & Paces we are voting for a new book right now! We’d love to have you read along!
Happy New Year!
