Happy New Year Bookish peeps!

I hope everyone’s New Year started off wonderfully! Or at least better than mine. I managed to come down with a sickness to kick off my 2024 year (and not the fun Disturbed song either). Slept my way through the 31st to the 2nd and managed to be some form of a responding human again on the 3rd. So instead of toasting a good drink to the countdown, here’s a solid Cheer! to quick healing and being able to breathe from my nose! Because in my world, being sick sucks, true, but having to breathe only from your mouth is worse. So I’d say the New Year is going ok. Better than some, worse than others. I didn’t even have enough patience to read anything while I was down. But that’s old news now and I’m bouncing back! On to the New Fresh year of 2024!

This year gives me some good feels and I’m here for it you guys! I’ve got a number of ARCs lined up throughout the year already. Which means new authors and stories you might not normally hear/see about! You’ll be seeing those sprinkled throughout. I’ve been working on some other projects that I’m excited about for this year; however, I don’t want to say to much and jinx it. The projected books that are due out from more popular authors (Sarah J. Maas, Brandon Sanderson, Stacia Stark, Melissa Blair, and more) this year are going to be SO good! If you have any must read recommendations for this year, I wanna know what they are! Finally, I’ve settled on a Goodreads Reading Challenge number. My goal is to read 110 books. Its 5 less books this year; although, I foresee a bunch of much thicker books in my future. That could potentially make up for the 5 less books in my goal. Plus, I wanted to give myself a little bit of reading padding just in case. I managed to hit exactly 115 last year and loved just about all of my books I was able to finish. I’ll do a highlight post on my tops and lowest reads for 2023 soon.

As for the reading plans for the year, last year, I did themed months and I had fun with the challenge of finding books for each of the unique months. A fair amount of them were really out of my usual reads and a lot of fun to read which was kind of surprising. So I decided to keep the tend of having a reading theme for each of the months this year too. They might seem a bit simple compared to the ’23 calendar themes I had. For that I say, who cares lol! Sometimes the simplest is the most challenging to accomplish. But for January’s just keep scrolling!

I wish you guys the best of Januarys this year! Pace yourself with the reading challenges for the year. You don’t have to out do yourself each new year just be sure you’re enjoying what you’re spending time doing!

Happy reading you guys!

Reading Theme: Questions in the titles

I decided to start the year off with finding books whose titles contain a question. These seem to be a bit harder to find than I thought when I initially started to look around for books. The genres that they were coming from were all over the place too. I hope you guys have a lot of fun looking over what January’s books are. If you find any more books that fit this month’s theme, comment the book’s info below!

Happy Reading Everyone!

My Reading List for January 2024:

Whose Body? By Dorothy L. Sayers

The stark naked body was lying in the tub. Not unusual for a proper bath, but highly irregular for murder — especially with a pair of gold pince-nez deliberately perched before the sightless eyes. What’s more, the face appeared to have been shaved after death. The police assumed that the victim was a prominent financier, but Lord Peter Wimsey, who dabbled in mystery detection as a hobby, knew better. In this, his first murder case, Lord Peter untangles the ghastly mystery of the corpse in the bath.

Remember Me? By Sophie Kinsella

When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.

Somehow Lexi went from a twenty-five-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband—who also happens to be a multimillionaire? With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she…well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.

Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?

Madam, Will you Talk? By Mary Stewart

Widowed Charity Selborne had been greatly looking forward to her driving holiday through France with her old friend Louise – long, leisurely days under the hot sun, enjoying the beauty of the parched Provencal landscape. But when Charity arrived at their hotel in the picturesque French town of Avignon, she had no way of knowing that she was to become the principal player in the last act of a strange and brutal tragedy. Most of it had already been played. There had been love–and lust–and revenge and fear and murder.

Very soon her dreams turn into a nightmare, when by befriending a terrified boy and catching the attention of his enigmatic, possibly murderous father, Charity has inadvertently placed herself center stage. She becomes enmeshed in the schemes of a gang of murderers. And now the killer, with blood enough on his hands, is waiting in the wings.
