Hey Everyone!
Can anyone else feel spring almost here? I get so ready for that nice warm, yet still cooler spring weather to get here once March hits. Summer is just ferocious so Spring and Fall are my go to seasons. My pups are already getting rid of their winter coats. Meaning there is full time sweeping happening and we are always carrying a dog brush along when we go outside. I can also feel the book sorting itch starting up.
There is just something so nice about being able to resort and change up the look of the bookshelves once in awhile. It happens to fall with the usual spring cleaning we do around the house which works for me! My husband is sweet enough to put up with the piles for a weekend while I go through them all. I’ve also found that I always find book that I no longer want in the collection. I know *gasp* blasphemy! But there is always a handful that just don’t click with me and I don’t really see the need to hold on to. Thankfully, we’ve got a bunch of Little Libraries around that I can go and fill up their shelves with the books. Then perhaps walk away with a new one or two that catch my eye 😁.
Another reason that the shelf clean up is going to be exciting this time is because I’ve recently gotten a few new bookshelves for Christmas. And after getting them set up and just stuffed with the book piles I had around the house, I can properly get those shelves set up! Do you guys have any suggestion on the way I should do the organizing? I’ve always wanted to try out one of the color looks, but what if a single series is different colors and get scattered all around the shelves?.. Maybe a genre sort? Tried and true Author sort?
Have a wonderful March everyone! If I have started up any of your own sorting wants – sorry! Just know I’ll be down in the book trenches and stacks soon too! And if we run into one another, I promise not to tell the others where you’ve decided to bunk down and read instead of sorting/reshelving.
Chat with you all next month!
Reading Theme: Spring into Action
With my own choices on how to sort my shelves keeping me a bit stuck in my progress, I needed a read that would just take action for me. So this month, lets find strong, active protagonists that just get shit done! None of this “what if” or double thinking what should happen. Just get up and go! #EscapismIsReal lol!
Reading Challenge: If you’ve been on a string of this trope and what a little challenge, Find a book with the strong protagonist that has been made into a movie or a TV show.
One series that I’ve recently picked up that was made into a TV show was Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. I didn’t know that it was the early 2000s True Blood show when I started it reading, but it turned out to be pretty decent. Haven’t made it far in the TV show, but the book series ended alright. It was my guilty pleasure for a while. Not the best writing, but a weird, compelling story that kept me around.
Happy Reading Everyone!
My Reading List for March 2025:
Free The Darkness By Kel Kade
Raised and trained in complete seclusion at a secret fortress on the edge of the northern wilds of the Kingdom of Ashai, a young warrior called Rezkin is unexpectedly thrust into the outworld when a terrible battle destroys all that he knows. With no understanding of his life’s purpose and armed with masterful weapons mysteriously bequeathed to him by a dead king, the young warrior relentlessly pursues his only lead. A single elite warrior escaped during the battle and may have knowledge of who Rezkin is and who is responsible for the slaughter at the young man’s home.
Rezkin must travel across Ashai to find the one man who may hold the clues to his very existence. His last orders, spoken on the lips of his dying Master, were to “Kill with conscience” and “Protect and honor your friends.” Living in isolation from the outworld under a strict regimen of training and education, the young warrior has no understanding of a conscience or friends. Determined to adhere to his last orders, Rezkin extends his protection to an unlikely assortment of individuals he meets along the way, often leading to humorous and poignant incidents.
As if pursuing an elite warrior across a kingdom, figuring out who he is and why everyone he knows is dead, and attempting to find these so-called friends and protect them is not enough, strange things are happening in the kingdom. New dangers begin to arise that threaten not only Rezkin and his friends, but possibly everyone in Ashai.

The Library At Mount Char By Scott Hawkins
Carolyn’s not so different from the other human beings around her. She’s sure of it. She likes guacamole and cigarettes and steak. She knows how to use a phone. She even remembers what clothes are for. After all, she was a normal American herself, once.
That was a long time ago, of course—before the time she calls “adoption day,” when she and a dozen other children found themselves being raised by a man they learned to call Father. Father could do strange things. He could call light from darkness. Sometimes he raised the dead. And when he was disobeyed, the consequences were terrible.
In the years since Father took her in, Carolyn hasn’t gotten out much. Instead, she and her adopted siblings have been raised according to Father’s ancient Pelapi customs. They’ve studied the books in his library and learned some of the secrets behind his equally ancient power. Sometimes, they’ve wondered if their cruel tutor might secretly be God.
Now, Father is missing. And if God truly is dead, the only thing that matters is who will inherit his library—and with it, power over all of creation.
As Carolyn gathers the tools she needs for the battle to come, fierce competitors for this prize align against her. But Carolyn can win. She’s sure of it. What she doesn’t realize is that her victory may come at an unacceptable price—because in becoming a God, she’s forgotten a great deal about being human
