Another random prompt I was given this time in a form of a quote:
“It’s the children the world almost breaks who grow up to save it.” – Frank Warren
What does this quote inspire you to write or create? Let me know! Here is my inspired piece from this piece of wisdom:
The Next One Broken
They don’t know what it’s like.
The struggle each day to see the next.
It doesn’t matter that I look just like everyone else.
The pain of not reaching what people expect of you.
Despite being top of the class or the sole-supporter of the family.
The uncountable moments where you just want it to be done.
But it would seem far too selfish when so many need you.
They want you to bare the world and problems on your shoulders
Even though they are so small and young.
Child or not, I must survive.
When I grow up I’m going to be different.
I will look for those who need that helping hand.
And I will reach out to others that wanted things to end.
I had to grow up with so much riding on my choices in life.
So much stacked up against me, it seemed hard to breath.
My childhood broke me down.
Beat me to a pulp and found ways to hurt.
But I learned to live through it all.
I found ways to survive till that next day
And I can relate to all of the others who have lived the same life.
I will make this world a better place for those like me.
To prevent more who might face those hardships alone.
Everyone out there has someone who cares.
They just have to find them.
I will grow up and find a way to save this world.
Because, even though this world broke me while I was young,
I was restored by it as well.
And that is something worth passing on to the next broken child.
